MetaPet Schools Parent/Carer Note
What is this?
MetaPet Schools is a short teacher-led classroom activity for Years 3-6. Students use a digital companion to notice patterns, practise simple online safety habits, and talk about systems and regulation in age-appropriate language.
What it does not require
No student account
No student email
No public profile
No social sharing
No advertising or behavioural tracking on classroom routes
What is stored during normal classroom use
A teacher-chosen alias
Lesson progress on the classroom device
A local class summary for pilot evidence
How participation works
The default pilot pack assumes parent/carer opt-in before direct student use.
If your school uses a different approved local process, it should explain that clearly before classroom use.
Students who are not the primary device user can still take part through observation, discussion, or teacher-provided alternatives.
How long is it kept?
Classroom record contents stay in the browser during routine use. The hosting provider still receives ordinary page requests, and a deliberate teacher export leaves the browser. After 35 days without use, expired records are removed when a school route next opens; a website cannot erase browser storage while it is closed. Teachers can clear local classroom data at any time.
Who should I contact?
Please contact the school if you have questions about classroom use, privacy, or whether your child participates in the pilot.
